So you may remember that last week I posted my very first video when I showed my reaction to the February Birchbox. If you missed it you can check it out here!
Today I am going to share my thoughts on the products that I received in the box and have been trying out over the past week.
SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND….
Birchbox says: Fragrance meets body care with this decadent hand and body lotion from masters of scent, Cochine. For the lotion itself, natural extracts of sweet almond oil and orange oil combine to nourish your skin while shea butter and aloe vera work to soothe and hydrate. Now, let’s talk about the scent! Zesty lime blossom and woodsy notes of water hyacinth leave an energising yet serene trace of fragrance on your skin, long after the lotion has absorbed.
How: Leave the bottle by your bathroom skin and massage in a pump after washing your hands, or apply it all over your body after showering.
The Girl says: The smell of this is truly intoxicating, it smells so nice like a English garden! The lotion goes on to the skin smooth and light which is really nice as some lotions feel too heavy on the skin. It also absorbs into the skin really quickly, leaving soft silky skin.
Birchbox says: Before we even get started on what beauty miracles this brush can work, let’s just take a moment to appreciate how b-e-a-utiful this tool is. If your make-up bag needs a shake up then you can’t go wrong with a Spectrum Collections brush! Even better? This brush makes light work of our ambition to perfect a sculpted complexion – we’re talking highlighting and contouring, of course! Shaped for a precision finish, the synthetic bristles pick up just the right amount of product so you can build up coverage with ease. We’re obsessed – and you will be, too!
How: Dip the brush into powder, tap off excess product, and dust onto skin in small circles. Apply a second layer if you want extra coverage.
The Girl says: I used this with my bronzer and it works so well on the skin. It was so soft and it held the colour but then when applied to my checks it blended well to leave me with a glow. I think that this is a great product for the money.
Birchbox says: Number 4’s Lumiere d’Hiver Super Comb Prep & Protect. Strengthening, repairing, de tangling, great at taming flyway ends as well as nourishing and protecting, it’s a brilliant all-rounder. It’s also 100% Vegan, gluten-free, sulphate-free and paraben-free.
How: After using shampoo and conditioner, tower dry hair. Spray evenly and comb through, if desired. Style as normal.
The Girl says: Now if you didn’t watch the video, I shared with you that my hair gets tangled up really quickly, so I was hoping that this was going to make a difference. When spraying this the smell is really like and I have to be really honest with you all as I have totally fallen in love with this product. Normally after washing my hair it takes me a good 10 mins to comb out as like I said it gets tangled at lot but after spraying this on to my hair my comb just when through it, yes there were a few tangles but compared to what it is normally like it was nothing really. I am totally in love with this product and I think that is well worth the money as it would make my mornings so much easier. Big thumbs up from me.
Birchbox says: We love a product that works hard for as, and one that works TWICE as hard is even better! This skincare must-have from Doux Me not only sloughs away dead skin cells as a gentle exfoliator but it brings comfort to even the most sensitive skin types as a nourishing mask. So, how does it work? Apricot oil, Roman chamomile and marshmallow extracts all work to nourish and care for the skin deep down while boosting antioxidant levels so your skin looks and feels its best.
How: Once or twice a week, apply a fine layer to your face and neck then leave for 10 minutes and wipe away with damp cotton pads. To exfoliate, massage into damp skin using circular motions then rinse away with cold water.
The Girl says: This smelt of marshmallow, but I think that I got a little confused as I started to use this as a mask and after 10 mins, I started to massage into my skin to exfoliate my skin and rinsed away while the instructions says to use one way or the other, although I am not sure if it matters. This product left my skin soft, smooth, I think with this crazy weather my skin was tired and need a boost and my face now looks amazing.
Birchbox says: We’ve spent light-years searching for a full, long-lasting eye shadow look that we can fit in the palm of our hand. Breaking news: we’ve accomplished our mission. This easy-as-could-be, paraben-free shadow stick from Birchbox brand LOC removes the need for multiple brushes, blenders, and primers to deliver up to 11 hours of creaseless, waterproof colour in just one swipe. Another bonus? Everything in the LOC line is super affordable, cruelty-free, and the perfect compact size – ideal for keeping you stylish through the season!
How: Apply to lids and blend within 30 seconds for a soft, smokey look, or leave as is to create a precise, striking line.
The Girl says: Wow, I am so impressed with this shadow, it glides on the skin and even though it is a soft colour, the intensity is strong as it gives a nice glow to the eyelid. I am really going to look up this brand and see other colours they do as it is such a beautiful product.
Birchbox says: Stash this handy set in your tote (or desk or gym bag or glove compartment) and never be caught without a hair tie again. These elastic bands come in a range of chic colours, and it’s easy to store them on this convenient tube. What’s more, the sturdy bands are metal-free, so they won’t damage your hair or get snagged in your style.
How: Use these handy elastics to add a little polish to your ponytail or to secure the end of boho braids.
The Girl says: Love this as it holds my pony in place yet it is so kind to my hair. You really can’t go wrong with this product.
Have you tried any of these products? What did you think?
N.B. This is not a sponsored video/post, all opinions are my own. Birchbox says and how info is taken from Birchbox website.
Today is a day of firsts… I have created my very first YouTube video, it’s a strange feeling as I am so excited to be sharing it with you but I am also a little nervous as I have never filmed anything before, so really hoping that it is ok!
My second first is my very first Birchbox arrived through my post box this week so I thought I would share with you my reaction to unboxing it and see what amazing goodies were inside… so here we go…
SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND….
So what do you think of my first YouTube video? Did I do OK?
Over the next few weeks I will be sharing my thoughts on these products so make sure you come back next week for my review on Cochine Water Hyacinth & Lime Blossom Hand & Body Lotion.
What do you think of the goodies that I received in my Birchbox? Did you receive the same?

The other day I received a free sample of a new fragrance called Signorina Misteriosa by Salvatore Ferragamo so I thought I would share my thoughts of it!
Signorina Misteriosa is the new night-time scent completing the Salvatore Ferragamo’s Signorina collection. Model Grace Hartzel is the face of the Fragrance which is available a Edu de Parfum and launches this month, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
The Opening Scent
When this is first sprayed the smell is strong and powerful. Due to the fragrance’s fresh and bitter top notes of wild blackberries and neroli, you get the feeling that the smell will last all night.
The After Scent
Once the fragrance has settled you can really smell the sensual fruity opulence of the heart with the base notes of patchouli heart and black vanilla mousse.
The Hour Test
1 hour later… Still smelling good!
2 hours later… Smell is still there but not as strong.
3 hours later… Smells the same as an hour ago.
5 hours later… Smell is still there but now more faint.
8 hours later… Very faint smell, not really enough for someone to smell it on you when you walk past but by now I would have resprayed.
I really love this fragrance, it is such a sensual smell with a dark and mysterious feel to it which I think is perfect for the evening. I have to admit to you the Salvatore Ferragamo’s Signorina range is not something that I have ever looked at before, in fact I don’t think that I have ever smelt a Salvatore Ferragamo fragrance but after smelling this, I am in fact intrigued to find out what the other fragrance’s smell like. As for Signorina Misteriosa, this is really one that I would love to add to my fragrance collection.
Have you smelt Signorina Misteriosa or any of the other fragrances in the Salvatore Ferragamo’s Signorina range? What do you think of them?
Today I am writing a post that is a little different from my normal ones as I have chosen to write about one of my favourite books. Now by the title of this topic you maybe thinking that I have chosen a fairy tale to write about but ironically I have chosen to write about a book that challenges the things we read and are taught about by fairy tales.
Photo by Girl Behind The Look
Kelly Cutrone was someone that stood out for me on the show as I love the fact that she is not a woman that is afraid to speak her mind. She has spent years working in the PR business learning her craft and set up her own business through having strong work ethics. For me she is a great role model so when I found out she had wrote a book I just had to read it.
The book I have chosen to talk about is her first book called ‘If You Have To Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You’.

Now many of you maybe thinking that this is a fashion book, I was too until I started reading to find that Kelly talks about how as a women we need to find our inner divine.
The reason I wanted to share this book with you all is because at the start of this challenge I shared with you my new years inspiration and this book is truly inspiring.
Life is full of obstacles, and Kelly talks about hers but more importantly she shares how she overcame them and how as women we need to follow our own life path and not conform to the global views on how we should be.
One of my favourite quotes from the book is when Kelly is talking about the word ‘bitch’
‘Truth be told, I have never seen “bitch” as a bad word. Instead, I see the word for what it is: a reflection of people’s lack of creativity and inability to acknowledge and embrace a powerful woman.’
– Kelly Cutrone: If You Have To Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You
She proceeds to conclude…
‘In the meantime, all over Salem, Massachusetts-one of my favourite towns, I take my daughter there each halloween-there are signs that read: WITCH: Woman In Total Control of Herself. If that’s what a witch is, then a BITCH must be a Babe (or Boss) In Total Control of Herself.’
– Kelly Cutrone: If You Have To Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You
In the youtube video below, Kelly explains what her book is about…
I would completely recommend this book as a must read. This book and Kelly inspire me to strive for more in my life.
Have you read this book? Did you like it? Will you be going to buy this book after seeing this post?
I hope you have enjoyed reading and don’t forget to comment as I would love to hear what you think of this book and post.
Today I wanted to talk to you about winter skincare as it is so hard to look after your skin when you are going from the warmth of your home to the freezing cold outside. I am going to share with you my 4 tips for winter skin which is also my skincare routine and it really keeps my skin looking great throughout the winter months.
Morning Face Routine
Now I know many of you maybe looking at my photo above and maybe thinking that these products are expensive. My answer to that is yes they are but I believe that it is important to invest in your skin, after all we only get one. I would rather go without getting the latest pair of shoes or handbag in order to invest in these products. Even if you only invest in to one of these products you will be so happy that you did.
1. When I wake up in a morning the first thing I do is wash my face with Estée Lauder perfectly clean multi action foaming cleanser. I love the consistency of this cleanser and you hardly need anything to wash your whole face, as they say a lot goes a long way. It foams up to leave my face feeling fresh.
2. Next I apply Estée Lauder perfectly clean toning lotion. It’s a great toner and picks up any unwanted dirt that the cleanser has left behind.
3. I then apply Estée Lauder Daywear. I fell in love with this day cream the first day that I used it. It leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft, it smells really good too.
Evening Face Routine
Now I live in London and anybody that lives here or who has visited will understand that at the end of the day your skin feels tried and clogged up with the dirt from this amazing city. When I get home, I like to wash my face straight away in order to feel refreshed and ready to relax on the sofa for the evening. So here is my evening skincare routine.
1. I repeat 1 and 2 of my morning routine.
2. I then take off my eye make up using Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Make Up Remover Gel. I love this product because it is really cooling on the eye area but it is also a gel so it leaves your eyes feeling refreshed. I have tried other eye removers but they have left my eyes feeling sticky and greasy which is something I don’t like, so this gel works great for me.
3. I then apply an eye serum using my ring finger as this way I apply as little pressure to the sensitive eye area as possible. I use Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Eye Recovery Complex as it helps to protect the delicate eye area from environmental damage.
4. Next I apply Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex. I love this serum as it leaves my skin feeling smooth and once again a little of this product goes a long way. Like the eye serum it works overnight to repair the damage from the environment and minimise the signs of aging.
My advice to anyone reading this would be to invest in either the eye serum or recovery complex as this is a real investment and it is never too early or late to protect your skin.
I love nail varnish and painting my nails but there is nothing worst then winter weather damage. I love Aveeno Hand Cream as it smells great, absorbs in to my skin really quickly and best of all it moisturises for 24 hours.
I wash my hands lots of times throughout the day but it still works to keep dry skin at bay.
I also use cuticle oil as much as can as it is really good at protecting dryness around the nail area and making sure that my nails really make a statement for all the right reasons.
Lastly I wanted to share with you what I use on my lips as in the past, I use to forget about protecting my lips in winter (I know, I am really bad but I paid for my mistake) and I use to end up with really bad winter burn.
To help keep this at bay I use Blistex Moisture Max, it contains shea butter and aloe vera that leaves them feeling and looking soft. If I ever feel the winter burn coming on then I substitute this product for Lanolips 101 Ointment which acts as a moisture reservoir by holding 200% of its own weight in water to keep lips hydrated.
NB. Please note that all products mentioned in this post are my personal preferences and recommendations and this is in no way a paid advertisement.
Do you use any of these products? What do you think to them? Do you have any tips for winter skincare? I would love to hear your thoughts and if you for this post useful then please share it using the links below!
